Kilmainham Gaol
Kilmainham Location
Kilmainham Gaol, a renowned historical landmark, is located in the Kilmainham district of Dublin. This strategic location in Dublin offers a poignant journey into Ireland’s struggle for independence and its enduring legacy
Kilmainham Gaol History
This former prison occupies a particularly important place in Irish history as the location of the execution of many of the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising. Now a museum, the excellent tour here will reveal the stories of people held as ordinary criminals alongside those who fought for Irish independence. From the 1798 rebellion, to the 1916 Easter Rising, the Anglo-Irish War (1919-21), to the devastation of the Irish Civil War (1922-23) these important events form part of what we think is a moving and unforgettable experience.
