Discover the Oldest Cathedral in Dublin: Christchurch
24 August 2023
Christchurch Cathedral is the oldest cathedral in Dublin and one of the most popular tourist attractions. It’s just a five-minute walk from The Chancery Hotel. The cathedral was founded in 1028 – originally as a Viking Church – and it has been rebuilt several times over the centuries.
It is home to a number of important historical artefacts, including the mummified remains of a cat and a rat which can be seen in The Crypt – the largest of its kind in Ireland or Britain. The cathedral is open to the public for tours and is a working Anglican church – find out more here
